Derry/Strabane COVID-19 rate falling more rapidly on cityside than Waterside

The prevalence of coronavirus has continued to fall in Derry but more rapidly on the cityside than the Waterside.

Between January 18 and January 24 there were 74 SARS-CoV-2 cases on the cityside (BT48) giving a rate per 100,000 of 121.6.

This was just over half the rate of 233.3 per 100,000 recorded over the weekly period January 11 to January 17.

In the BT47 postal area which covers the Waterside and the surrounding countryside as far as Dungiven there were 116 positive tests over the same weekly period giving a rate per 100,000 of 187.5. This was a reduction in the rate of 231.1. recorded the week previously.

In Strabane (BT82) there were 30 cases giving a prevalence rate of 111.6 per 100,000, down from 167.3 last week. In the Castlederg area (BT81) the case rate was 164.9 per 100,000 with 13 cases registered during the week, just over half the rate of 316.9 per 100,000 figure posted last week.
