Derry/Strabane COVID-19 rate falls again

The seven-day coronavirus case rate per 100,000 fell again in Derry and Strabane on Friday.

The prevalence rate has fallen for 12 days running.

Between January 8 and January 14, there were 396 confirmed positive cases of the virus in the district giving a seven day rate per 100,000 of 286.1, down from 262.8 on Thursday.

The average prevalence rate for the north over the same seven days was 403.4 per 100,000 - lower than the figure of 412.9 posted yesterday.

Rates are higher in Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (638.3), Mid Ulster (604.7), Newry, Mourne and Down (513.3), Fermanagh and Omagh (397.2), Antrim and Newtownabbey (370.1), Mid and East Antrim (347.8), Belfast (321.2), Causeway Coast and Glens (282.1) and Lisburn and Castlereagh (283.8).

Ards and North Down, where the rate is 226.3 per 100,000, is the only district in the north with a lower prevalence than Derry/Strabane.

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between January 13 and 14 was 43.

In total 10,261 people have now tested positive for the illness in Derry and Strabane.
