Derry/Strabane COVID-19 rate now sixth highest in north by district

The seven-day COVID-19 case rate per 100,000 in Derry and Strabane has fallen below the 200 mark for the first time since September 25.

The rate in Derry and Strabane remains below the average for the north which has again risen to 208.3.

Between November 8 and November 14 there were 301 positive coronavirus cases in Derry and Strabane giving a seven day rate of 199.8.

The infection rate is going in the wrong direction in several areas with five districts now recording higher prevalence of the illness than Derry and Strabane.

These are Causeway Coast and Glens (316.8), Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (260.2), Belfast (212.8), Fermanagh and Omagh (212.3) and Mid Ulster (212.2).

No more deaths have been registered in Derry and Strabane, according to the data published this afternoon by the Department of Health.

Sixty-two people were being treated as coronavirus patients in Western Trust hospitals at midnight on Friday which is the lowest number since October 15.
