Derry/Strabane now has lowest COVID-19 rate in the north

The seven-day coronavirus rate per 100,000 fell again in Derry and Strabane on Tuesday and is now the lowest in the north and at its lowest point since December 16.

Between January 12 and January 18, there were 273 confirmed positive cases of the virus in the district giving a seven day rate per 100,000 of 181.2, down from 209.1 on Monday.

The average prevalence rate for the north over the same seven days was 323.7 per 100,000 - lower than the figure of 353.2 posted yesterday.

Derry and Strabane is now recording the lowest coronavirus rate in the six counties after Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (591.5), Mid Ulster (475.2), Newry, Mourne and Down (5375.2), Antrim and Newtownabbey (296.5), Fermanagh and Omagh (288.5), Mid and East Antrim (262.6), Belfast (260.2), Causeway Coast and Glens (218.2), Lisburn and Castlereagh (216.3) and Ards and North Down (184.6).

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between January 17 and 18 was 34.

In total 10,395 people have now tested positive for the illness in Derry and Strabane.
