Eight Altnagelvin hospitalisations in two days with Derry hospital 3.62% over capacity

Three of the patients were aged between 40 and 59, two were aged between 60 and 79, and three were aged over 80.

Six were admitted on Wednesday. One, aged 60 to 79, was discharged on the same day. Two were admitted yesterday.

At midnight on Thursday there were 73 confirmed or suspected coronavirus patients being cared for in Western Trust hospitals.

Five of eleven (45.45%) ICU beds at Altnagelvin were being used to treat COVID-19 patients; one (9.09%) was occupied by a patient with another condition; and five (45.45%) were free.

Four ICU patients in total were being ventilated - three were COVID-19 patients and one was the non-COVID-19 patient.

In terms of general occupancy 17.67 per cent of beds at Altnagelvin were 'COVID-19 occupied', 75.99 per cent were 'other occupied' and the hospital is now stretched at 3.62 per cent over capacity: 6.25 per cent were 'awaiting admission' according to the latest data.

The South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen is now operating at over 4.76 per cent over capacity.
