Eight patients being ventilated in Altnagelvin ICU

Eight patients are being ventilated in the Intensive Care Unit in Altnagelvin, according to the latest daily update from the Department of Health.

Five of 16 (31.25%) ICU beds at Altnagelvin are being used to treat COVID-19 patients; five (31.25%) are occupied by patients with other conditions and six (37.5%) are free.

Eight ICU patients in total are being ventilated - four are COVID-19 patients and four are non-COVID-19 patients.

In terms of general occupancy 19.17% of beds at Altnagelvin are ‘COVID-19 occupied’, 73.16% are ‘other occupied’ and the hospital had 2.36% capacity left in the system: 5.31% are ‘awaiting admission.’

One person - a man aged 70 to 79, was admitted to Altnagelvin on Wednesday.

At midnight on Wednesday 101 people were being treated as coronavirus inpatients across all Western Trust hospitals.
