Five more COVID-19 patients admitted to Altnagelvin

Five more people were admitted to Altnagelvin Hospital with COVID-19 on Thursday, according to figures from the health authorities.

Two of the patients were aged between 40 and 59 and three were aged between 60 and 79. One of the older patients was discharged on the same day.

At midnight on Thursday there were 69 coronavirus patients in Western Trust hospitals.

Five people were being treated in ICU at Altnagelvin.

Three of ten (30%) ICU beds at Altnagelvin were being used to treat COVID-19 patients; two (20%) were occupied by patients with other conditions; and five (30%) ICU beds were free.

Three ICU patients in total were being ventilated - one were COVID-19 patients and two were non-COVID-19 patients.

In terms of general occupancy 17.65 per cent of beds at Altnagelvin were 'COVID-19 occupied', 75.85 per cent were 'other occupied' and the hospital now has 2.17 per cent capacity left in the system; 4.33 per cent was classified as 'awaiting admission', which was no change on the position reported yesterday.
