Tamzin (18) as been seeking the meeting since the launch of her campaign for the centre in February. Her mother, Louise O’Doherty-White, died in January following a battle with addiction.

Last month, Minister Swann informed Tamzin that diary pressures meant he could not meet with her, but asked that Dr Anne Kilgallen, Chief Executive of the Western Trust, engage with her. A meeting between Tamzin, Ms Kilgallen and Western Trust representatives took place last week.

While the meeting was ‘positive,’ Tamzin still sought a meeting with the Health Minister and this week it was confirmed that this will take place on May 7 at Altnagelvin Hospital. Tamzin welcomed the move and said she wants to highlight how many people and families are struggling with addiction in Derry.
