The scheme is being organised by St Brigid’s Church, Carnhill to facilitate those who wish to stop drinking for the month of November. Many people do this to offer spiritual support to a relation who is struggling because of alcohol or an addiction problem.

Taking the pledge involves three commitments – to abstain from alcohol; to wear the Pioneer emblem; and to recite the Pioneer prayer twice daily. Offer this act as a sacrifice for the eternal salvation of their deceased loved ones, and for the Souls in Purgatory. The temporary Pioneer pin costs £5 and people who have one from previous years can wear that again. Everyone is invited to attend the information session on Tuesday, November 1.
