James McClean suspended by Stoke City for alleged breach of COVID-19 regulations

The Creggan footballer James McClean has been suspended by Stoke City for an alleged breach of COVID-19 regulations.

The club said it was alleged that the winger had trained in a private gym.

The former Derry City and current Republic of Ireland star will not feature in Saturday's English Championship clash with Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

"Stoke City can confirm that James McClean has been suspended with immediate effect pending a disciplinary hearing into an alleged breach of COVID-19 regulations, namely training in a private gym," the club said.

"As a result of the suspension, McClean will not be available for selection for Saturday’s game against Blackburn Rovers," it confirmed.
