Second person from Derry and Strabane dies from COVID-19 in less than a week

It's the second death in a week in the local area.

Twenty-three people have now died from the illness since the pandemic began, according to the latest daily data published by the Department of Health.

Forty-one people remained in Western Trust hospitals at midnight.

In total 1426 people in Derry and Strabane tested positive for coronavirus over the past seven days and the seven day case rate per 100,000 people here has risen to 946.4.

Since the start of the health emergency 2962 have tested positive for COVID-19 locally.
