Six more people, including a woman aged 20-39, have been admitted to Altnagelvin with coronavirus.

Data from the Department of Health this afternoon show five women aged 20-39, 40-49, 60-69, 70-79 and over 80 were admitted yesterday. The male patient was in his fifties.

Six of 12 (50%) ICU beds at Altnagelvin are being used to treat COVID-19 patients; six (50%) are occupied by patients with other conditions and no beds are free although the hospital is capable of increasing to 16 staffed ICU beds under its 'extreme surge' plan.

Seven ICU patients in total are being ventilated - two are COVID-19 patients and five are non-COVID-19 patients.

In terms of general occupancy 17.11% of beds at Altnagelvin are ‘COVID-19 occupied’, 74.93% are ‘other occupied’ and the hospital had 1.18 % capacity left in the system: 6.78% are ‘awaiting admission.’

At midnight on Thursday 104 people were being treated as coronavirus inpatients across all Western Trust hospitals.
