It will be broadcast from Termonbacca on Facebook and YouTube, and as many people as possible have been invited to “pray for the intercession of this amazing Derry girl”.

Sr. Clare died in an earthquake in South America on April 16, 2016.

The 33-year-old, a member of the Servant Sisters, died when the school building she was in collapsed in the Equadorian town of Playa Prieta.

The 7.8-magnitude earthquake killed hundreds of people and hundreds more were injured.

Sr. Clare, a native of Iona Terrace in the Brandywell area of the Long Tower parish, had been teaching guitar and singing with five young women postulants, who were entering the religious order, when the earthquake struck.

She died while trying to save children, and in 2018 a film charting her remarkable life and legacy, entitled ‘All of Nothing’ was released.

Yesterday evening, Bishop Donal McKeown offered up the Rosary from St Eugene’s Cathedral at 8pm in memory of Sr. Clare and asked for her intercession for the people of her native city of Derry.

Meanwhile to mark the anniversary, people all around Derry have been placing an image of Sr. Crockett in their front windows and praying for her intercession for protection and peace in this time of great uncertainty.
