Ten more patients - half aged 40 to 59 - admitted to Altnagelvin with COVID-19

Ten people were admitted to Altnagelvin having tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday and Saturday, according to the latest data from the Department of Health.

On Friday three people aged 40 to 59, four people aged 60 to 79, and one person aged over 80 was admitted to the local hospital.

A further two people aged between 40 and 59 were admitted on Saturday. There were no registered hospitalisations yesterday.

At midnight on Sunday there were 76 coronavirus patients in Western Trust hospitals.

Six people were being treated in ICU at Altnagelvin.

Four of ten (40%) ICU beds at Altnagelvin were being used to treat COVID-19 patients; two (20%) were occupied by patients with other conditions; and four (40%) ICU beds were free.

Three ICU patients in total were being ventilated - one was a COVID-19 patient and two were non-COVID-19 patients.

In terms of general occupancy 17.03 per cent of beds at Altnagelvin were 'COVID-19 occupied', 72.24 per cent were 'other occupied' and the hospital now has 8.83 per cent capacity left in the system; 1.89 per cent was classified as 'awaiting admission'.
