The Mindset Junkie: How to enjoy life’s journey to the full

Define what success means to you.

We can’t have anything we want, we can only have more of what we are.

*Want success? Be successful. *Want to live better? Have higher standards than what you have right now.

*Want more things to be happy about in the future? Be happy now.

*Want love? Be a loving person now!

We do not get what we want in life we get what we are. If you want any of those things above and much more then you have to be that person.

So many times I chased the external without realising it was the internal that needed changed first. I would wonder why I was frustrated, burning out and never really making the progress that I wanted.

I had unconscious behavioural patterns that took me away from the things that I said and knew I wanted, always ending up that bit further away instead of closer to my goals.

Everything that we say we want externally is for what? It’s for a feeling that we will have internally when we achieve that goal; whatever that is for you. However, what if we felt that feeling now?

What if you already fulfilled your wish? How would you feel? How would you think? How would you perform? You see that goes against everything that we have been conditioned to believe. I can’t see it, so it’s not here.

We don’t trust that it’s on its way or believe in it simply because it’s not yet in our reality. I will be happy when . . . Put any one of your goals behind that, I know I did! But will you be happy?

What if you could simply be happy now? While you work on the goals or changes that you need to make. Would you enjoy the journey more? It’s something that I’ve had to work on myself.

I’ve hit lots of goals I set out to hit. Did it make me any happier? Like lasting happiness? Contentment or feeling fulfilled?

Yeah, I felt good for a moment but then my mind went to the next goal, never truly enjoying what I achieved.

This year I made a promise to myself that I would work more on going within to find out more about who and what I really am and what really does make me a happier person, father, husband and friend (yes I’ve got some).

It’s a journey I think we are all on and there’s no doubt we all ask ourselves the question; ‘what’s it all about?’

I’ve always been a pretty deep thinker, always looking to know more about myself and what this journey is all about.

For me I want to learn to enjoy the journey more; to discover more about myself and share that with others.

On the way I can hopefully inspire others to create the changes they want to see in their own lives so that their own path is a more fulfilling one.

Are we really chasing our own goals or the conditioned goals that society teaches us to go after in order to be deemed successful? Create your own path!
