It is not only a very relevant topic that is quite poignant right now with everything that’s going on in the world but one that always will be.

Imagine change is such a powerful couple of words that can sometimes strike fear into those who really take it onboard or excitement, wonder and awe for those who embrace it and imagine the change they want to see in their own lives.

When I was asked to speak at this event it was something that automatically resonated with me - change! I’ve personally went through a lot of changes in my own life to get me to the point of being asked to be speak at this event.

It has been an up and down battle for years, most of the times knowing that I wanted to change, but so many times just not knowing the answers.

What change would you like to imagine in your own life?

Imagination is the starting point of all change. It is where we spend the first few years of our lives, in the imaginary world, believing you are this or that and creating your own little reality.

As adults we so often we use our imagination against ourseleves as we focus on all the things we don’t want or the things we fear, and we imagine everything that could go wrong. Why is that? Why does that happen?

The imagination is one of the most important higher faculties of our mind. Every single thing that we use on this material world was first created there inside someone’s imagination, but do you ever take time each day to quieten your own mind and to step into your own imagination and dream of the changes you would love to see in your reality?

Most won’t as we haven’t been taught, unfortunately we haven’t been shown the true power that we have inside our marvellous minds. We act, think and behave on automatic most days, without ever really thinking.

I want to imagine change in the best possible way for me, my family and for those who I mentor, and we can all do that if we would just dare to dream more instead of putting ourselves down by thinking we don’t have the ability or we simply aren’t good enough.

Old, negative conditioning we inherit keeps us stuck, we second guess ourselves all to often without ever really just going for it.

I believe that it must begin at childhood, we must learn as adults how to empower children to give them the tools to really feel empowered, to condition their minds with love, confidence, self belief, joy and teach them the tools that will help them navigate the world better when they grow older.

The first few years of a kid’s life is crucial their minds are like sponges, soaking up all information, experiences the things they see and hear.

This creates a blueprint that will then dictate so much of what that child will do in adulthood. Therefore it’s imperative that as adults we learn and get taught how to empower our children for the future, so that they can create and imagine the changes they want to see in the world.

But we can change all of us at anytime, we all can, when we truly want to and have the desire within to make it happen.

I want to thank Gary Doherty who has worked tirelessly to bring the dream that he imagined to Derry, which is being the first person ever to host a Tedx event in Derry.

It’s the very first time it will be here in the city and Gary has an amazing event organised and I am proud and grateful to be apart of it - thanks Gary.
