Three more COVID-19 admissions at Altnagelvin with Derry hospital now 0.60 per cent over capacity

Three more people - including a woman aged between 20 and 39 - were admitted to Altnagelvin with COVID-19 yesterday.

A woman aged in her fifties and a woman aged over 80 were also admitted to the Derry hospital on Tuesday.

At midnight last night 77 patients were being treated as COVID-19 inpatients across all Western Trust hospitals.

Five of 14 (35.71%) ICU beds at Altnagelvin were being used to treat COVID-19 patients; four (28.57%) were occupied by patients with other conditions and five (35.71%) were free, according to Department of Health figures.

Seven ICU patients in total were being ventilated - four were COVID-19 patients and three were non-COVID-19 patients.

In terms of general occupancy 13.39% of beds at Altnagelvin were ‘COVID-19 occupied’, 82.74% were ‘other occupied’ and the hospital was 0.60% over capacity: 3.87% were ‘awaiting admission.’

The South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen was 9.38 per cent over capacity.
