Three more COVID-19 patients - two in their 40s and 50s - admitted to Altnagelvin

Three more people - two in their 40s and 50s - were admitted to Altnagelvin yesterday having tested positive for COVID-19, according to the latest data from the Department of Health.

Two were aged between 40 and 59 and one was aged over 80.

At midnight on Thursday there were 72 coronavirus patients in Western Trust hospitals.

Four of of ten (40%) ICU beds at Altnagelvin were being used to treat COVID-19 patients; three (30%) were occupied by patients with other conditions; and three (30%) ICU beds were free.

Two ICU patients in total were being ventilated - one was a COVID-19 patient and one was a non-COVID-19 patient.

In terms of general occupancy 16.41 per cent of beds at Altnagelvin were 'COVID-19 occupied', 74.92 per cent were 'other occupied' and the hospital now has 6.81 per cent capacity left in the system; 1.86 per cent was classified as 'awaiting admission'.
