Two more people die in Derry and Strabane having tested positive for COVID-19

Two more people in Derry and Strabane have sadly died having tested positive for COVID-19, according to the latest data published by the Department of Health.

A woman aged over 80 and a man aged between 60 and 79 died yesterday. Their deaths were added to the death of another woman in her 80s which was reported yesterday.

In total 34 people in Derry and Strabane have died since the beginning of the pandemic.

Two more people - one aged over 80 and the other aged between 40 and 59 - were admitted to Altnagelvin on Thursday.

At midnight last night there were 68 confirmed COVID-19 patients in Western Trust hospitals.

According to a breakdown of general occupancy by hospital, Altnagelvin is now 21.52 per cent 'COVID-19 occupied', 71.84 per cent 'other occupied' with 6.65 per cent capacity still available in the system.

The daily COVID-19 dashboard shows that six of nine ICU beds at Altnagelvin (66.67 per cent) are occupied with COVID-19 patients. One further ICU beds is being used for patients with non-COVID issues, and two are unoccupied.

Two COVID-19 patients at Altnagelvin are being ventilated, according to the data released this afternoon.
