Western Trust midnight COVID-19 patient tally falls to 10 and SARS-CoV-2 occupancy at Altnagelvin down to 1.79%

The number of COVID-19 inpatients at midnight in Western Trust hospitals has fallen to just 10 - the lowest point in 232 days.

There was one new COVID-19 admissions to Altnagelvin on Wednesday.

A man aged over 80 was admitted to the Derry hospital but released on the same day.

At midnight on Wednesday 10 people were being treated as coronavirus inpatients across all Western Trust hospitals.

Two of 10 (20%) ICU beds at Altnagelvin were being used to treat COVID-19 patients; six (60%) were occupied by patients with other conditions and two (20%) were free.

Four ICU patients in total were being ventilated - two were COVID-19 patients and two were non-COVID-19 patients.

In terms of general occupancy 1.79% of beds at Altnagelvin were ‘COVID-19 occupied’, 90.18% were ‘other occupied’ and the hospital was 5.95% over capacity; 8.04% were ‘awaiting admission.’

There have been no further deaths.
