11. 1588 - Spanish Armada destroyed. La Trinidad Valencera wrecked off Kinnagoe bay (pictured). Bishop Redmond O’Gallagher harbours Francisco de Cuéllar, a Spanish sea captain, who made his way to the Derry area after running aground off Sligo.
