Only 500 of the Fiesta ST Edition models will be sold in Europe, with the UK getting 300 of those. Available only in three-door body style, the Fiesta ST Edition will cost £27,075 - a £5,420 premium over the entry-level ST and £2,175 more than the range-topping ST-3.

Key among the upgrades is a new Ford Performance adjustable coilover suspension system. Finished in Ford Performance Blue, the setup lowers the ride height by 15mm at the front and 10mm at the rear and offers 12 bump and 16 rebound settings, allowing drivers to tune the car to their personal preferences.

The ST Edition also gets new flow-formed 18-inch alloy wheels which are around 2kg lighter each than the standard car’s.

Other cosmetic changes for the limited-run model include an exclusive Azure Blue paint and gloss black detailing on the diffuser, spoiler and ST badges. Inside, carbon fibre-effect panels and bespoke blue stitching complement a new steering wheel with quick access button for selecting the car’s sport driving mode.

The ST Edition uses the same 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine and six-speed manual gearbox as the regular ST. That means 197bhp, 214/b ft and 0-62mpg in 6.4 seconds. It does, however, get as standard the Quaife limited slip differential and launch control function that usually come as part of the £950 Performance Pack.

“Our new Fiesta ST Edition squeezes even more excitement out of the best-handling compact hot-hatch on the road,” said Stefan Muenzinger, Ford Performance manager for Europe. “The Edition model puts drivers firmly in control with the ability to manually adjust the feel of their car and fine-tune the handling to suit their personal preference.”
