MTV to give one local DJ the chance to shine

DJ, Martin Garrix, is due to headline Club MTV in Derry next month.

Club MTV returns to Derry on September 10 and the ‘Journal’ understands one local DJ will be given the opportunity to perform live on stage.

“It’s the opportunity of a lifetime,” said a source.

The ‘Journal’ understands that local DJs aged between 16 and 25 will be able to audition for the spectacular chance to appear in front of thousands of music lovers.

Then Club MTV will decide which local DJ they think should take part in next month’s showpiece.

Dutch DJ, record producer and musician, Martin Garrix, is the headline act and British DJ and rapper, Example, will also be performing.

Twenty year-old Garrix is one of the world’s most talented DJs and music producers.

The video for Garrix’s hit track ‘Animals’ has been watched more than 860 million times on YouTube.com alone.

The concert has been organised by local events company Legacy Promotions Iona Ltd in partnership with Club MTV.

This year, Legacy Promotions Iona Ltd has added a second day to the festival.

On Sunday September 11 ‘Party in the Square’ will feature Adele tribute act, Katie Markham, who featured on the Graham Norton Show.

The concert will also see live performances from Abbaesque, Ritchie Remo and the Mowtown Brothers.

“It’s going to be a great day’s fun,” said a spokesperson for Legacy Promotions Iona Ltd.

“The Club MTV concert is sure to be an amazing experience.

“We had eight fireworks at last year’s concert - this year for Martin Garrix’s set alone there will be 80 - it’s going to be amazing.”
