Instead of the usual parade through the city centre, this year people are being asked to send in videos of up to a minute long of themselves and others having their own socially distanced parade over the coming days.

The clips will be compiled and shown together on social media at 2pm next Saturday August 29, when the 2020 parade had been due to take place.

The entire Foyle Pride festival this year has been moved online to help keep people safe due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A spokesperson for Foyle Pride said: “Our theme in 2020 is ‘Celebrate The Love’ so you might like to have a celebration in your video of the landmarks the LGBTQ+ communities have achieved, but we never forget that Pride is a Protest so that might be something you want to highlight in your video too! Be proud and make it your own!

“We have 200 free Pride Packs you can pick up (socially distanced) from Guildhall Square on Saturday August 22 from 5pm to 7pm with a flag, badges and stickers to help everyone celebrate Pride regardless of your economic background.”

It is understood the packs will also be available in other areas as well.
