A-level results: St. Mary's Limavady students '˜exceed expectations'

Principal McCloskey said: “We are thrilled with the outstanding success of our students A Levels results. These results demonstrate the school continues to provide high quality education to students in Limavady and the wider Roe Valley area and, more importantly, that students feel challenged and supported to achieve their very best. These results are a testament to their hard work and determination to achieve, and achieve as well as pupils in other non-selective post primary and grammar schools.”

Top performer at A-level was Caolan Robinson with an A*, A and B. Mrs. McCloskey said Caolan is the first boy in a number of years to outperform the girls at A-level, going against the national trend of girls outperforming boys.

“This year has seen an increase in top grades in STEM subjects and these continue to increase each year especially for boys who are taking more STEM related subjects,” she said. “Pupils this year will be accepting places at Queen’s University, Belfast, Ulster University, Liverpool Hope, Letterkenny Regional College, among others and will follow a variety of courses including education, finance, engineering, health care ...

“Despite many of our pupils being deemed failures at the age of 11, St. Mary’s has once again shown that the school can provide quality education for pupils of all abilities and at all levels allowing our pupils to follow their passions and achieve success.”
