Animals in Need NW set up donations website
Animals in Need NW found Dusty and her puppies dumped in a bin inside a shed at an abandoned Travellers site in Strabane just days before Christmas last year. Dusty died but two of her pups survived.
At the time Gareth Connor, founder of Animals in Need NW, said: “We’d heard there was a mother and pups there and she was very small so we initially thought she was the only one, but then there was a noise and we found the puppies.

Hide AdMr Connor praised the staff at Drumahoe Veterinary Practice who fought to keep Dusty alive however she had horrific internal injuries and died. He added: “The vets were fantastic. She was kept in overnight and Declan the vet stayed with her all night, but with further investigations, they discovered she had fluid in her lungs and internal bleeding and she died.”
Dusty’s remaining pups are being cared for by local volunteers.
However, there are still 17 dogs in the care of Animals in Need NW at the minute and all of them have had to go through Drumahoe Vets. The bill is mounting and the organistaion needs money quickly to keep up their good work.
To that end a crowd funding page has been set up on JustGiving.com and can be found by searching there for Animals in need N.W. The initial target of £500 has already been surpassed but of course much more is needed in order to maintain the work done by the organisation. And, as said donations can be made at JustGiving.com-Animals in need N.W.
