Glenshane care Centre provides day care three days a week for adults, aged 30 to 80, who have moderate to profound learning and physical disabilities.

Amanda Kelly said as well as volunteer drivers, they need volunteers to help with cooking and cleaning at their base on Legavallon Road.

Speaking ahead of a charity cycle on April 24th to raise funds for the Centre, Ms Kelly said: “The cycle is for general running costs as the grant from the Western Trust only covers rent and staffing costs, so we have to make up £20,000.

“We had been very lucky recently and we had quite a few volunteers, but we seem to have a bit of a lull right now.”

Currently, the Centre provides care for 21 adults from around the Dungiven area, giving much needed respite for carers.

Ms Kelly said she is grateful to anyone who can volunteer their time.
