Birth, Deaths, Marriages

Local people will no longer be able to obtain copies of birth, death, civil partnership and marriage certificates from the local Registrar's office in Derry.

A report brought before the local Council stated that changes have been introduced over the past few weeks which means people will have to contact the Northern Ireland head office in Belfast instead.

The District Registrar’s Offices in Derry has issued renewal birth and death certificates and marriage certificates for over a decade, but from now on will only register and issue certificates at the point of registering births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships.

From now on copies all documents will have to be obtained in person at the Chichester Street Office in Belfast, or by post request, or through the NI Direct Website.
