Glenn McDowell, from Glenn’s Butchers, was crowned ‘All Ireland Grand Prix Runner-Up Champion’ at the All Ireland Sausage & Burger Championship.

The 34-year-old said he was thrilled to come out a winner from the competition organised by Butchery Excellence Ireland.

Glenn’s Butchers received a string of accolades including category gold win for ‘Spicy Beef & Mozzarella Meatballs’ as well as being announced silver runner up for Beef Burger and bronze runner up for Continental Sausage ‘Authentic Toulouse Sausage’, Beef Sausages and Traditional Vegetable Roll.

The Limavady man worked in Derry, in the Hatmore area, for several years before making the move back home five years ago to open his own business in Anderson Avenue where he employs five staff.

“It’s great to win something like this, especially when you think of the competition that was there, more than 150 entries,” Glenn told the ‘Journal’. “I’m delighted.”
