The political party Cannabis is Safer Than Alcohol (CISTA) has put forward candidate John Lindsay in the Foyle constituency.

Speaking to the ‘Journal’ he said, “The evidence exists to prove that prohibition of drugs isn’t working. This isn’t about promoting drug use, this is about reducing the harms caused by young people being criminalised and the existence of criminal gangs. It’s also about people who are using drugs for medicinal purposes having to choose between sickness or breaking the law. We, as a party, hope that by being on the ticket, it promotes debate on the issue.

“We are also not a single issue party and have a range of social and economic policies that we will be promoting.”

The CISTA manifesto launch will take place in Bennigans Bar on Thursday 14th April.
