Colr: No plans to introduce charges at Country Park

DUP councillor Alan Robinson said there are no plans to introduce car parking charges at the Roe Valley Country Park.

Colr. Robinson said he received confirmation directly from the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs Minister, Michelle McIlveen, following a rumour circulating in Limavady. He said he’d been approached on a number of occasions about it.

“Incorrectly, some members of the public believe the Country Park, its cafe and car parking facility is owned by council,” he said. “However ownership lies with the Northern Ireland Environment Agency. I was shocked to hear this rumour, therefore I contacted my party colleague and DAERA Minister, Michelle McIlveen for a definitive answer. I am delighted to be able to state that there is to be no introduction of parking charges at this location, information directly from the Minister.”

Colr. Robinson said the Park is “an integral part of our tourist infrastructure and I would oppose anything that would stop people from enjoying the facilities”. He said it was welcome news people will still be able to enjoy the Park free of charge.
