Kevin Kelly, 27, from Kilkenny, died after an altercation in Luton town centre in England, just after 5.00 a.m. on Sunday, May 1st.

The popular young man’s father, Michael, is originally from Urris and he was a regular visitor to the area. He also has a number of family members living here.

A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with the attack and has been bailed on suspicion of manslaughter.

Kevin’s family has now joined forces in a bid to raise the cash needed to return him to Ireland - and also set up a college fund for his five-year-old son Gerrard.

Yesterday, an online crowdfunding site, set up by Mr Kelly’s cousin Pierce, was on its way to reaching its target of £10,000.

Paying tribute to the plasterer, a spokesman for the family said: “We are devastated by the loss of Kevin.

“He touched so many people’s lives and was loved by everyone. His cheeky smile will never be forgotten. Kevin was a loving family man who adored his son. He worked hard his whole life and we were all so proud of him when he started his own plastering company.

“Our lives have been torn apart by Kevin’s death and we would ask that people respect our privacy at this difficult time.Kevin’s father, two brothers, four sisters, partner, son, two nieces and three nephews, all of which adored him, would like to thank everyone for their support and condolences.”

Mr. Kelly was originally from Skeoughvosteen, a small village in Kilkenny. He had made Luton his home after moving to the area three years ago with his partner Symone Sangha and son.
