Coronavirus: 416 COVID-19 cases in Donegal as Irish death toll rises to 1019

Four hundred and sixteen cases of COVID-19 confirmed in the south by midnight on Monday were in Donegal, the National Public Health Emergency Team have confirmed, while the total number of Irish deaths has now exceeded 1000.

There have now been 1019 Irish deaths from COVID-19 in total - 250 in the north and 769 in the south.

Today’s data from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre in Dublin also reveal that as of midnight, Monday, (15,871 cases), there were 416 cases in Donegal, 2.5% of the total number of cases in the 26 counties.

Of the 15,871 cases 56% were female and 44% were male.

The median age of confirmed cases was 48 years and 2,387 cases (15%) had been hospitalised.

Of those hospitalised, 322 cases had been admitted to ICU.

And 4,393 cases were associated with healthcare workers.

Dublin had the highest number of cases at 7,905 (50% of all cases) followed by Cork with 1,077 cases (7%).

Of those for whom transmission status was known: community transmission accounted for 61%, close contact accounted for 35%, and travel abroad accounted for 4%.
