Derry man breached bail while watching the World Cup
A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates’ Court after breaching bail while watching the World Cup.
Kevin O'Doherty (39) of St Brecan's Park was on bail for alleged offences including an assault causing grievous bodily harm, with bail conditions that included that he abide by a curfew and abstain from alcohol.
Police were alerted that he wasn't at his address on July 19 when he did not answer his phone, the court heard.
Police eventually attended his address and found him to be intoxicated, the court was told.

Police objected to bail.
Defence Barrister Michael Donaghy said the breach was 'nothing sophisticated', that O'Doherty was at home watching the World Cup and stepped outside for a cigarette.
District Judge Suzanne Rice granted bail but told O'Doherty that this was 'a final warning'.
She upheld his previous conditions, including that he abstain from alcohol 'regardless of any football event'.
He will appear again on September 3.
