Derry man who breached bail told police ‘he would not sit in a cell until Tuesday’ court told
A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates’ Court after breaching five of his six bail conditions.
William Temple (41) of no fixed abode was on bail on conditions including that he reside at an address approved by police, abide by a curfew, abstain from alcohol, have no contact with his mother, who is the alleged injured party in his case, not enter the Foyle Road and abstain from any illegal drugs.
Temple was arrested after breaching all but the drug conditions, Derry Magistrates’ Court heard on Tuesday morning.
Police officers were initially alerted on August 30 that Temple was not at his address at the time of his curfew, the court was told.

When they attempted to make contact with the accused, he refused to co-operate with police, telling them that he would 'not sit in a cell until Tuesday'.
On August 31, police were contacted by Temple's mother, who told officers that Temple was at her address.
Upon his arrest, he gave a breath alcohol reading of 116mgs, the court heard.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that Temple had an address that he knew would soon become unavailable.
Mr. McDermott told the court that Temple claimed his mother had made a withdrawal statement and wanted him home.
He also added that it was Temple's first breach of his bail and that he suffers from addiction to alcohol.
Bail was granted to an address approved by police and is due to appear again at Derry Magistrates’ Court on September 10.
