Sex offender who failed to notify police of new address in Derry jailed
A convicted sex offender in the Republic failed to comply with his notifications requirements when he came to Derry the local Magistrate's Court has been told.
Adam O'Connor (26) of Dervock Place in Derry admitted a charge of failing to notify police of a change of address, something he is required to do within three days.
The court was told that police became aware O'Connor was in Derry living at an address in the city without notifying police.
The court heard that the defendant hadn't registered in the Republic either after receiving a custodial sentence for sex offences.

Defence counsel Stephen Mooney said that the court knew that there had to be a record in the Republic where the defendant had received a lengthy custodial sentence.
District Judge Conor Heaney said that notification requirements were there to protect the victims and the public.
He said that the defendant had deliberately failed to notify police of his address.
O'Connor was jailed for two months.
