62-year-old denies sex abusing grand-daughter

A 62-year-old man has denied sexually abusing his grand-daughter.

The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the complainant, pleaded not guilty to a total of eight sex offences.

He denied sexual assault by penetration and causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity .

The 62-year-old also denied sexual activity with a child family member.

The defendant denies further charges of an adult causing a child to watch a sexual act and an adult inciting a child family member to engage in a sexual act. The offences were allegedly committed between May 1999 and October 2013.

Derry Crown Court heard the trial is likely to last 
between five and seven days.

The case was adjourned for a trial date to be fixed.

The defendant was released on continuing bail to appear in court again on November 14.
