Accused of sex offences

A 51-year-old man has appeared in court after an international warrant was issued for his arrest.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of 35 historic sex offences.

Derry Magistrates Court heard the complainants are his nieces.

The arrest warrant was issued after the defendant left the jurisdiction prior to preliminary enquiry papers being served in the case.

There was no application for bail and the 51-year-old was remanded in custody to appear in court again on February 11.
