Admitted sexual activity with a 15-year-old
A 42-year-old man has admitted sexual activity with a 15-year-old boy.
Michael Patrick Doherty, with a bail address in Jersey, had initially denied two charges of raping the teenage boy between Novmeber 6 and November 9, 2014.
After a jury was sworn to try the case at Derry Crown Court, the defendant pleaded guilty to a single charge of sexual activity with a child between the same dates.
The rape charges were left on the books not to be proceeded with.
Sentencing was adjourned for a Probation Pre-Sentence Report to be compiled.
Doherty was released on continuing bail and placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
He will appear in court again on August 24th.
