A man who called a police officer a '˜Jewish b****** has received a suspended sentence.

John Meehan, of Northland Road, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour on the Clooney Road on June 8, last year.

The 21-year-old also admitted assaulting and resisting police.

Derry Magistrate’s Court heard police were called after Meehan was refused entry to the family home.

When officers arrived the 21-year-old became aggressive and attempted to headbutt one of them.

Deputy District Judge Terence Dunlop suspended a four month sentence for two years and imposed a conditional discharge.
