Cut Mephedrone on cannon on City Walls

A judge told a man who admitted '˜cutting' mephedrone on the City Walls that drugs are a '˜blight' on lives.

Deputy District Judge Terence Dunlop made the comment as 24-year-old Karl Bradley appeared at the local magistrate’s court.

Bradley, of O’Donovan Road, pleaded guilty to possessing a Class B drug with intent to supply and simple possession of a Class B drug on May 16th, 2014.

The court heard CCTV operators alerted police to two men who appeared to be in possession of small bags of white powder.

The men were on the City Walls at the time and were measuring and cutting the powder on a canon.

After searching Bradley, police found a small clear plastic bag of white powder.

Searches of the immediate area uncovered seven further plastic bags.

Six of these contained drugs with a street value of £100.

They also found text messages sent on Bradley’s phone saying ‘let me know if you need anything shifted this weekend. ‘

Judge Dunlop said Bradley has ‘the intelligence to realise the stupidity and foolishness of the act,’ adding ‘lives are blighted by drugs.’

He added: ‘The possession and sale of drugs is something that the court abhors and must show it’s strong disapproval of.’

Bradley was ordered to complete 120 hours Community Service.
