The issue was raised by Aontú Councillor Emmet Doyle who said: “In recent days there have been threats made to female journalists Patricia Devlin and Allison Morris up in Belfast but I do want to put on record as well that Foyle Sinn Féin MLA Martina Anderson has had some messages sent to her of a threatening nature.

“I do think we should put on record our solidarity with all those women because it is absolutely unacceptable in this day and age that women who are out and about doing very difficult jobs are being targeted, particularly in the case of the two journalists, by faceless individuals who want to take advantage of their anger on a political issue and how people report that.”
