Man denies assault and motoring offences

A 36-year-old man has denied a number of assault and motoring offences.

John Paul Harkin, whose address was given on court papers as c/o Maghaberry, pleaded not guilty to hijacking on December 16, 2013.

He also denied taking a motor vehicle without authority and handling property stolen in the Republic of Ireland on August 12, 2014.

Harkin pleaded not guilty to further charges relating to an alleged incident in Altnagelvin Hospital in February 2015.

These include assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, making a threat to kill, possession of an offensive weapon and criminal damage.

The 36-year-old was remanded in custody to appear in court again on March 2.
