Man to face trial over historic sex offences

A 51-year-old man is to stand trial at Derry Crown Court accused of sex offences.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faces 21 charges of indecent assault and 14 charges of gross indecency.

The offences were allegedly committed between December 31, 1990 and March 27, 1999.

The allegations relate to two complainants and the court heard they are related to the defendant.

The man declined to say anything in answer to the charges or to call any evidence on his own behalf.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott accepted there is a case for the 51-year-old to answer.

The defendant was remanded in custody to appear in court again for arraignment on April 26.
