Man hospitalised with serious facial injuries after assault during Derry street disturbance

A man has sustained serious facial injuries after being assaulted during a serious street disturbance in Derry.

The man has been treated in hospital following the assault in Galliagh in the early hours of this morning.

A 32-year-old has been arrested on suspicious of occasioning grievous bodily harm (GBH).

Police received a report of a disturbance in the street at Bloomfield Park shortly before 1.30 a.m. on Saturday, July 4.

It is believed at this time that one man was assaulted by a number of other males. The man, aged in his 30s, sustained serious facial injuries as a result and is currently receiving hospital treatment.

The 32 year old man arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent was taken into custody.
