Police seize fireworks in Brandywell area of Derry

Police have seized fireworks in the Brandywell area of the city following a planned search operation.

Officers from Foyleside and Moor Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out the search on Friday under warrant.

A young male was subsequently arrested and has been released on police bail as our enquiries continue.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Fireworks are not harmless. They can cause serious injury, start fires and cause significant distress within our communities, particularly to older people, those with sensory sensitivities, young children and animals.
