Politicians unite to condemn Derry bombing incident

A pipe bomb attack in Derry this morning has drawn widespread condemnation.

SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood MP said the bombing in Lincoln Court around 1 a.m. this morning was ‘an attack on the entire community’.

“Those responsible for this pipe bomb could have caused tragedy for people in this city. They don’t care about people here, their only goal is to create chaos and crisis.

“The people of this city have rejected this violence and those behind it. The people responsible need to understand that they are not wanted in Derry.

“This is an attack, not just on one home or area, but on our entire community. I would appeal for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious around Lincoln Court last night to come forward to police," he said.

DUP MLA Gary Middleton said: "This is disgraceful behaviour which I fully condemn. Anyone with information should bring it forward to the PSNI."

Ulster Unionist Party Alderman Darren Guy said: "I fully condemn this reckless act. What do such actions achieve? Anyone with any information should call 101 and quote Ref: 88 09/06/20."

Sinn Féin Councillor Christopher Jackson said: “Whoever was behind this pipe bomb attack in Lincoln Court in the Waterside area showed absolutely no regard for the public.

“Those responsible for this pipe bomb attack have nothing to offer the community and need to end these actions immediately.

“Anyone with any information on those responsible should bring it forward to police."
