PSNI reveals first new uniform style in 20 years and asks public for views

The PSNI has showcased a new bottle green uniform it is currently piloting, with people urged to give their views.

A three month pilot to trial the different style of uniform is currently under way, and a new YouTube video showing officers wearing the kit has been uploaded.

The current uniform has been in existence for nearly two decades since the formation of the Police Service in November 2001 and following the disbandment of the RUC.

Police said the new trial “has provided an opportunity for a number of officers to test modern work wear which is fit for purpose, practical and comfortable”.

Around 150 officers have been showcasing the new work wear across the north.

The pilot will come to an end on January 17, 2021 and police have said: “This is your last chance to tell us what you think through the survey”.
