McGilloway’s home was searched by police and they found football tops worth £70 which still had the security tags on in a foil lined bag.

During police interview the teen admitted theft.

Defence counsel Stephen Chapman said his client is in breach of a suspended sentence and is currently subject to a probation order.

He told the court McGilloway is engaging well with probation and if he receives an immediate custodial sentence ‘all that good work will stop’.

District Judge Barney McElholm said he would give the 19-year-old ‘one chance but one chance only. If he is back in court in the next two years he is going to prison’.

He suspended a six month jail term for two years and fined the defendant £300.
