Warning for people to be vigilant after 800L of oil stolen from tank in Muff

Garda Superintendent Goretti Sheridan has urged people to be vigilant after heartless thieves stole 800 litres of home heating oil was stolen from an oil tank at a house in Muff.

Supt. Sheridan said the incident happened overnight and was discovered on Thursday morning of this week.

“I would urge people to be mindful around this time of year and to consider security around their houses and oil tanks.”

Local people have been advised that locks and sensor lights can act as a deterrent to those engaged in such activity.

Supt. Sheridan also asked local people to keep an eye out for their neighbours and anyone who might be living alone and vulnerable.

She said it was important in the current climate, when would-be thieves will take opportunities, to do what you can to protect and secure your property.
